Finally, this semester is turning to an end very soon. Lots of memories and incident happen around us ,and it's so meaningful to my campus life. I really do mean it.Taking a new challenging to new projects and there have no site trip for this semester, for my class. Quite sad about that... I actually very enjoy travel to different place internal or external trip. I love it! It helps me to expand my knowledge and gaining more life experience in a tour. Rather i go to library and borrow those so damn heavy books and read and read. In my mind, i do not really appear in college often and almost disconnect from UCSI. We do not know what happen in my school, what event are having in my school. We are misleading or unacknowledged ...


In Theory class, i know i had been given some tough pages articles to be digested weekly! From articles, i can feel that, i really have no idea how they going to think their theory and i can see, they are awesome. Also, this reading task have to be completed by our lecturer and  students, and i realized, it's really really tough  for me which is weak in English . It's barely let me understand what u have read. So, i have to read several times, and sometimes i delayed . Honestly , i did. However, i learnt how to read article within a short period now, and improved my English language by writing blog weekly. By sharing weekly experience after i read,yet, it doesn't really match what i have understand and what lecturer explained,i had been given another point of perspective  when i look on architecture. As i know, theory of architecture is so abstract topic and do not have a correct answer, either correct or wrong does not matter,only a personal opinion and individual perspective.

Award from MSID 

Best moment in this semester, i was in a shortlisted to Beijing 2010. It is an event that sponsored by Dulux and  which organized by MSID. However , i'm only awarded 1st runner up, it really gave me a great passion to move forward in this field. I feel proud. It is because i have applied my theory of architecture in this competition. I used theory concept of space and place on my design. And i applied with my concept , which is light, shade and space to complete the task. I was ask to design a space with is a counselling space for abused children. Moreover, i also applied Heidegger thinking ,Existence of God, by using religion feeling in this counselling space. I put my light and shade which inspired by the Church of Light,Tadao Ando. I did this article during my theory mid term, it's helps me to give a new idea for me in time. I feel glad, i have studied well on it. Anyway, i will work harder, and one day i can be the champion any competition.


My philosophy in my future will be Light ,shadow and space. I like natural color, like white and black. They gave me more freedom in design and it's versatile color in a space. Light, which is very important in a space, when light penetrate into a space, created shades and allowing a strong contrast in a space. Its feeling harmonies and very gentle in the space.

Eroticism in Architecture

People looking forward to explore more in this field, architecture. Many theories are appear after people think and refines these ideas and concepts. More and more, endlessly, repeatedly, never stop their step to move into more extraordinary outcomes. Look, the pleasure we have now and the pleasure that we see in the past. Few hundred years ago, how does architecture exist and develop and until today, we call it as architecture.

Primary,people develop the building from the ancient period to have a pleasure in necessity rather than aesthetic until now we emphasis on aesthetic and mark it as one of the necessity in a design.The fragment 1 said, the pleasure of space and geometry about to emphasis a human moving limits and design according with limits. The element of structure always come from a simple geometry shape and being modified.

Secondly, the garden would appear to be utmost design from the renaissance period until the modernism , always to be a part of architecture, continuously. Design a landscape will always be the first step when we think about other element in a piece of land. We cannot over grand the nature and going to enormous over the green.It's  unfavorable to humanity and environment.

The necessity of pleasure, which we keep design for the occupants who need the space. Yet, we design practically and workable  to enhance life of  man. When we thinking of design luxury or we called useless word, it's would be a wastage to the space. However, i would think the creature may allow the space to be marked of mean,like we go to a chocolate shop, we can feel the ambiance of the shop when we put those graphical feature, lighting , and display creature which is 'useless' , yet, it attracting the public.

Of course, in architecture have to be rational in a sense of  space, exterior as well. Against or irrationally to create would lead to failure, yet ,it would be good or bad building.In eroticism , a building always to look seducing the public to look at, to touch and to approach. The fetish for everyone is not same, people love linear, they love deconstruction , we love Bauhaus , and what is yours ? Somehow, designer have to think a fetish that attract the public to pick it as their fetish too.

To make it a favorite fetish, of course same term with a human. When human look presentable, they need make up ,they need a pair of crystallize eye, need sharp nose and need a sexy body. Same with a building, they need a lighting as their make up, they need a seductive figure to attract the people, they need a practical furniture in to enhance the space. The mask of people reflecting the facade of a building. what we need, what they need. People love to enjoy pleasure of physical aesthetic and love to explore the inner personality. Same goes with architecture. ...

Day Trip

Located near Batu Gajah, which is about a 20-minute drive from Ipoh, this castle was built by Scottish planter William Kellie Smith in the 1910s. But the mansion, which some said was a gift for his wife or a home for his son, was never completed. Smith planned to call the mansion Kellas House, after his hometown in Scotland, but construction was halted after many workers died after contracting a virulent Spanish flu. Smith died of pneumonia during a short trip to Portugal in 1926, which sealed the fate of the mansion. His wife returned to Scotland after selling her husband’s rubber estate and the unfinished mansion to a British plantation company. One interesting aspect of the building is the existence of two tunnels — one of which leads to a Hindu temple nearby.


The architecture of the temple is a curious mix of Moorish, Greco-Roman and Indian design. Smith interested on the Hindu religion and the Indian culture, Smith's plans was for this house to share similar architecture to those of Madras, with all its bricks and tiles imported from India. He even employed a big group of Indian laborers to build his dream house, to keep the building like Indian house.Again the second house featured Islamic architecture with dome shaped windows, 14 rooms and a tall tower with lift and moat around it. The tower was tall enough to capture a panoramic view of Ipoh town. If it had been completed the house would have been the first building in Malaysia that would have had the first imported lift. A large wine cellar was included under the ground floor.


The  Department of Museums and Antiquities took steps to restore the building as a tourism spot and maintain the heritage of the Castle. It telling people about the prototype during that era and the history in the past. Moreover,in 1999, the castle was once used as film setting for Anna and the King. If it attracts international film maker to step foot in the mansion, it will surely worth for a photographing trip.‘Kellie’s Castle’ has been restored to the condition it was when it was abandoned, unfinished and as though it is waiting for its master to return to complete what he left out.

2  Emergency staircase? i think whenever i'm facing emergency , i think the best way here is rolling on this staircase,instead of step by step into this narrow treads!

3 The ornament wall, for aesthetic ,it is not bad, but for practically, the wall have not function at all, only can put the portraits with the frame! It can put any wardrobe, not any furniture higher than the wall!

4  i think it is a bad idea of having a open view dressing room,what about if Helen changing shirt here? hmm, feeling not really secure, right?

5  Look, i really have nothing to say when i saw this terrible staircase. Why it is so ugly that cover up the staircase like that way???! do they have other choice?and how to clean that obstructed window???

The feeling that i step into this castle is really horrible!! the hot and humid weather on that day is awful! my sweat all over my body, the construction seem not appropriate to the  location. Using a thick wall to obstruct the thermal to ventilate the building is not a good idea. the ventilation holes are not function as i thought. Its not really cool as kampung house as i went. The bad thing is the sealant of the tunnels, the leading towards the hindu temple nearby. Well, the bedroom for Kellie's family are not into privacy, especially the dressing area. Feel mysterious when i stepping on the corridor, the rumors sound to be alive when i look at it. On the 2nd floor, it should be an indoor tennis court, however, it is not done . I did feel sad about Smith, he unable to finish his love gift for his family ,now,it is there trademark for the new generation .

The Senses

The essential ability to experience a building, by hearing ,the first sense. We always may hear the wind blowing in a space and place.We will hear the structure 'talking' with us by hearing, like a door bell, when door closed, when water flowing. All can be experience through the sense of hearing.


Apparently ,we can smell the odor from the space,the sense of smell. Like we went to a restaurant, its smell of food. When we step into a library, there is smell of books and paper.Also, when we situated in a grass land, there is a fresh smell of green grass... 


What is more,we may also enjoy the beauty of the scene, the sense of sight. Our eyes saw things with a lot of different colors, shape and form, and the brightness and darkness. Every scenes are  recorded into our mind, and become a memory.


Further more, texture on the material of building are telling us the story of the building. It telling the ages of the building by the texture and material of the building. Different building built in different ages, each ages contructed with different material.It comes to a example, like a the modernism and the classical column.Obviously, the column of classical is much more ornaments however the modern column only with a minimalist design. Bye touching, we can felt the texture of the concrete, and texture, how many ages are.


Body sense. the humid and temperature of the space can be felt. The human skin may react to the air surrounding and telling the brain that the space is comfort or not. Hot and cool can be sense with own body skin.  Also, the senses of the space, we can feeling the darkness and will feel afraid of it, When we saw the red color we may feeling hot and warm. the ambiance of space can be felt through our senses.

his point of view to be close to the nature and organic. This statement allow him to feeling the sense of sight. To allow the people feeling the nature, he must design it well on certain surrounding  scene to be felt green.

 When we visit a monument to commemorate the dead, we are intend to to preserve the memory of a person or event; something which serve to be contributed to the nation by memorial the person.Is to appreciate all who have served their country both alive and dead.


To interact with memory, the tombstone actually was built on ground. There is a place serve as a burial ground of several Malaysian politicians.The place is designed with 7-pointed star  white concrete roofed structure.It's call the Makam Pahlawan ,Hero's Mausoleum. People may explore the particular space behind of the National Mosque.

Architecture relieve us of the burden of remembering by represent the structure of the building. White color will representing the innocent of people and the purity of the place. On the other hand, the Jewish museum had bring out the commemorating successfully because of the Void. In my mind, the void shows a lot of meaning between the building.The Underground route shows different stories to the path that leads to.


There are some same effect to the Hero's mausoleum and Jew Museum. Firstly, using some moderate raw material to furnish the structure of building. Secondly, even they are heritage, however, their architecturally are contemporary and blend into the city scape. Lastly, they have bring out the memorial ambiance inside of the spaces.  


To commemorated the hero's of Malaysia, a special day shall be announced which the nations have to attend the memorial day. On the memorial day, people will be reminded the honor of the hero's of Malaysia. Many organizations, including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and St John, march in military parades and take part in this special programs.

The Lot 53 Story

It is my home, located in a small town of ipoh. Away from city for 15min and peaceful environment. I had been living there since 7 years in age.It is a simple house that only with 3 room and a toilet. Well, i growth from that space.

The space did have inspired me in my current study design. My design always facing a good sun shade. It is because my house facing east, when sunrise, the sunlight will penetrate my home. Morning sunlight is bright and comfortable. And always i put my design into surrounding landscape. In front of my house is a large piece of green grass field. Everyday, im able to enjoy a vast green land in front of me. Consequently, it is a need when i'm designing a building, green is a must in my design compound.


In my home, my furniture always to be aligned against the wall, as it helped to save the space. When i'm design a small space, will do the same, to arrange furniture along the wall.Well, it works!

White Color, are always my 1st choice in my space. It is natural color and allow the vision to feel more bigger of the space.White color allow to create a strong contrast with any color. In my home, all walls painted in white color, in my mind, white color always able to bring the vision to the people to think and think! because white is blank...

Heidegger and architecture

Heidegger thinking is  generally describe the relationship between architecture with temple and his own preferences.He said, the temple manifested the existence of god, however, the god its already exist everywhere. The architecture is the bridge to denote the existence of it. The temple is trying to blend with the environment deliberately. The component for a temple show this existence of god, the lead of destiny of human being, and the temple contrast the natural element of earth to be visible by human being.


Using the Greek temple to describe the world with human being relationship,Heidegger , using four 'standing here' to express the mean of existence of the temple.He mean the temple is standing, and rest on the ground, and tower in the air.However, the architecture made the environment that arouse the god existence. People that present can feel the god though we said god is everywhere. 


In his philosophy,  architecture is a 'bridge' or an 'equipment' which visualize the man environment. Man will not feel the environment without architecture, it's can be shown the in some famous architect works like Villa Savoye ,Le Corbusier. He used a bright light color building finishes to contrast against the green landscape and lushes. Without the existence of the particular building, the landscape can be very typical environment.


Communication need language. He said that without language would be unable to deliver the message from one to another. In architecture , language is a primary tool to expressed the building message. No matter in construction or design, language take place in advance. It is a key of knowledge ,for architecture, for the world. 

Art and architecture is strongly related in this philosophy. Van Gogh,his art drawings that expressed the feeling to architecture and human feeling. Architecture, in my mind, consider a high distinction field. They need an absolute art and visualized to the community.In a simple architecture have to consider different aspect to ensure the structure is practical, aesthetic in art and the functionality. Those paintings are talking ,they speak!


In a nutshell, art and architecture take place for a particular structure. Architecture used to be a tool to visualized the art. Architecture able to communicate with the landscape and deliver message to human. 

We live in space ; We live with void

The place we called daily is referring a particular space which having some structures or environment in terms of stable place. However, in ordinary language 'place' has a somewhat wider meaning than it has on the field of geography. (https://oa.doria.fi/bitstream/handle/10024/2804/032.html) In this case, we shall look through the concept of place with different perspective .The article mention we tend to live in mobile life, mobile life is a technology and design house with our own suite of mobile social networking applications.Like what we see now, most of the man will carry own cell phone even some children around 8-9 years old belong one as well.It is  consequences to increase the number of communication and network from a space to another.Hence, many landscape or city planner starting to design a futurist city like Walking City by Ron Herron and New Babylon City.They believe that human will never stay in a original place forever but travel from one to another with the cityscape.Individual buildings or structures could also be mobile, moving wherever their owner wanted or needs dictated.

Walking City 

In my mind, this design thinking is really awesome!I think it would be the biggest vehicle in the world.It is mobility as human always demanded now. This city advantages can travel from one city with another city. Consequently, people interaction with another with be more easier and wider our human network too.  Moving cities would roam free in a natural landscape, following the seasons. Mechanical efficiency would allow the city to be self sufficient in energy with a small surplus going to enrich the population. There would be no long term dependence on fossil fuel, but direct use of the chemical, biological and thermal energy that flows continually through the environment.(http://www.eco-nomic.com/indexthn.htm)  And one thing is certain. If we all lived in walking cities and these cities roamed free across this great land, no matter how wild the ride, we would see less destruction of our world than we suffer today.

The Existential Space, in this article, he stated that people develop their image of structure world slowly,in which the notion space means existential space。To my mind, in order to distinguish the lived space from physical and geometrical space, it can  be called “existential space”.Like the author said,living space are not happen accidentally but after a well plan and survey the environment. This is a fact that we lived in an residential environment should be taking a lot of considerations like transport, security, air and noise pollution. Those factors may effect the space usage and decide what design shall use in the particular place.

The author also said that existential space as a system of places, ways, and zones, one might the impression that the human environment is two-dimensional. Third dimension is different between horizontal extension as a scared dimension of space. We always design space with a floor plan, obviously, we know that  will all are living within 2 dimensional space. Plan provide the measurement for a space that suit the occupant and provide a comfort visual for them too. Without plan, we are unable to justify the space planning and will be a big trouble when we purchasing a furniture. Hence , i agree with author,we are all living within a space which is 2 dimensional.

Existential space,is actually a place that already have an environment by naturally. This can be clarify that the mountain ,valley, river ,rocks and etc are included to a geographical zone. They did not developed by human or mechanically produce but it come from nature on the earth surface.The existential space did not have any specify form and function. 

On the other hand, the author mentioned the architectural space here are the structure does not allow the development of a satisfactory existential space, people has to modify the environment.Its on influence a minimal individual or small groups of man.To my mind, architectural space was actually an existential space which people choose to be dwelling or other purpose, they implement some architectural material and skill to blend with the environment space.They have to construct some structure in a kind of form to allow occupant to live in.So, we need architect and designer to take the task to build the structure that we called - home.

In a nutshell, i am disagree with author that mobile city will impede the human development. Human may need to exchange there knowledge and information in shortly. Network and technology will improve the development of human and no country will be stay in rural era. The architecture may focus on planning a city and structure in the mobile city. Like Ron herron, the mobile city is Eco-friendly to the earth. We found that a lot of  expend on our energy and water. The earth coming to an end if people may not take any action to prevent from it.Look  at the weather now,it is vary , the seasonal weather are unstable and the people suffering from the disaster. Earthquake will be the main topic these years. If Mobile city are implemented, the numbers of died people can be greatly reduced. Mobile city able to travel from one place to another, it mean we can experience a lot of different environment and making more new friend around.

Nowadays, we always crowded and traffic problem in our city.On weekend, we hardly find a parking lot in a shopping mall. All people have to go to different city to work and travel a quite distance. It consume more energy and wastage in a day. It's really have a change to save our space, our earth. 

Minority Report

Movies are always  impressed everyone in life. It is all about someone imagine and make it done! I always keep in mind that it's fake. However, minority report gave me a message about the technology in future and our family love. 


The story happened in year 2054. The technology are in  advanced that can foresee what happen next in near future.They were using  those transparent screen and computer, well, should be called hologram? Of course, they have a strong security system that using eye identification to access and egress from one space to another. Also, they even can regenerate those thought or memory from human's mind to a public screen.With those technology, it allow  police to stop the murders. Rate of crimes case dropped and it showed that it is worked. John, which lost his son,Sean and he join the 'pre crime' team. One day, John discovered that he was involved in a murder case. He escaped from the pre crime and look for helps to prove his innocence....

                                                                
                                                               Ultra Urban City

I'm quite impressed that John actually took those risk to escape from the vehicle from one to another. The scene and technology impressed me that no traffic jam in the particular city.The vehicles are  under registered and under civilized  of a secure system. Every place even a shop will have a eye scanning identification system to access the particular place or usage.In addition, those small spy that actually to scanning the eye of citizen is really convenience to control every citizen. Their sense are more powerful than any animals!Their moves like a intelligent spider to finished their task.

The most unimpressive scene will be those place that seem to be quarters housing area. Damaged ceiling and lacking of maintain the housing in advance era seem not to be matched. Of course, the inhuman action like keep the 'preCogs' in a tank that fluid.They are normal human like us, they have the human right too.


The architecture in the story is about futuristic which happen in 2054, they are mainly using those curtain wall on building. Most of the building are transparent in material. Minimalist are often practice in the modern spaces like John residence and the hotel. We also can see that Lara house is  located in country place .It reflected the people during that time still practice the stand alone house in Unite State.However, i'm disappointed that the quarter area seem to be abandoned, it seem not fit to the year.


In my mind, intention of this story is telling us the advance future technology can achieve to the particular level. Also,director is really genius that created the awesome scene with computer. Their message is not that strong, but i can feel that John had lost his son and divorced with his wife,Lara,it telling us the love between family. They missing the love one by using 3d visual laser to satisfied themselves.Those entertainment also using some laser technology for business usage. 


Yes, i think movie like these would have an impact to design thinking. Terrible thought like the pressure gun that rotate to generate a power and shoot enemy without killing anyone. People may also have thinking to have a car in the scene. In our future will  this car take place ? I think it will be yes. Movie will make person to be more creative and mature in thinking.

MyStory-MyArchitecture

It was seldom that i took this task to write about my self, to describe myself.However i had been given this task to do so for my study. i was a Chinese educated student, thus my English is weak. i hope you may understand what i'm writing...well, no gamma marks,right ?? =P

Architecture for me , is a brilliant occupation for me.when i was young, i never expected that i will take part in such course. i have no interest on building at all!and i dont like to make model ! i hate it in fact!But, one thing, i like to draw my house plan when i was standard 5,i like to design my house again, how i should make it better. When i was in primary school, it is really typical that you choose teacher, doctor, accountant or even police.However i think there are some students will pick architect. For me, they just an occupation that work for someone in an office. Its nothing special.Architecture, i can only heard it when i was secondary school, was a stranger for me.They build their awesome building with some drawings. Yeah, quite impressed that they can build KLCC.It may only give occupants to live or stay in the building, as a shelter.That's it.

When i finished my SPM, i did not continue my STPM, as i dont want to be stressed anymore.i cant cope with stress,hardly.Anyway, i choose a college and i study building for my diploma. In the particular school have additional syllabus that alliances with architecture. Well, it is quite good if i take architecture, sound profession for me. Consequently, i took that course they called Building architecture. 2years, i graduated. Shortly, i think i learn lot of theory and construction method. They have a lot of facilities in school,like workshop, and laboratory.The best experience was being chairperson of architecture society ,i have chance to involved myself into managing activities which held in our campus. We had fund raising , annually dinner, and exhibition of architecture.On the otther hand, my worst experience is making model period, within 1 week was suffering buy making model and keep drawing!!From morning untill another day morning,never stop, especially the last night before submission.At the end the result was satisfied.They gave me alot of happiness and i enjoy the life in campus.

After i had finished my diploma , i went to work for an architecture firm which located in the central of the city.Its was my first job a draughtmen , it seem a cultural for architecture student.Even working have to stay office and rush for tender , and presentation...but need not do model anymore. haha....Its was really tired whole day stay back in office to draw and rendering in my office desk! im scared to stay back anymore, im quit! i went to a Interior design firm to work. Its a starting to expand company. Well, they paid me higher, so i  go for it.Im starting to learn interior job and construction and i learnt 3d max ! WOW. a powerful software.After 1 year , i'm starting to consider and get back to campus, because im missing my campus life.
I decided to enroll UCSI interior degree course, and the nightmare started. It's not campus for me.Not enojoy, no facilites, syllabus is really fun but standard was so high.hardly get high marks or outstanding marks in class.... Frankly, i dont like their marking system. Most of the student agreed ,but what to do?

The worst and best habits for me is doing all thing in the last minutes! Well, it is because it take it as challenge for me , train how fast i can draw and render! But, it is worst as i unable to finished in time or up to expectation. =D i think it shouldn't be a problem if i started earlier, i will separated all things into parts and do.
But it is not good if i was asked to a rush a project. =P

Hopefully i can finished my degree as soon as possible! i want to leave UCSI badly... to achieve a better result and reputation keep my going.A better profile can let me achieve a better paid and my reputation helps me to gain lot of friends!May god bless me ! !
